The history behind this flag is complex, and there are many theories. The popular official story is that in 1812, General Manuel Belgrano received his inspiration whilst looking at the ocean sky before a battle, and decided to create a flag in the colours of the National Cockade. In 1985 both the plain blue and white triband and the sun adorned version were recognised as official flags, according to the flag law. |
