Costa Rica

The colours used in the flag of Costa Rica are symbolic of the following - blue for the sky and also for opportunities, perseverance, eternity and spiritual aspirations - white for happiness, wisdom, power and beauty - red for love of life, the warmth of the Costa Rican people, and the blood that has been shed for freedom.

The current version of this flag was adopted on the 27th of November 1906.
