The meaning of the colours of the flag of the Dominican Republic are as follows: blue for Liberty, red for the fire and blood of the struggle for independence, and the white cross for sacrifice. The plain version is for civil use and the one with the coat of arms is for government and military use. This flag was officially adopted in 1844. |
