The 'Magen David' (Shield of David), a six pointed star made from two triangles, was present on the shield belonging to King David and also on King Solomon's ring and, therefore, is also known as the 'Seal of Solomon'. It was considered to possess magical powers that protected against malevolent forces and has been an official Jewish symbol for more than 600 years.
