Italy

The National Flag of Italy was first established during the Napoleonic Wars by French Republics in Northern Italy.

Whilst not the official story, it is believed that the colours were adopted from the uniforms of the Civic Militia of Milan. After many changes to the flag, and after different political alliances, the final basic version of the flag was adopted in 1946, and in 2003 the official colours were established.
