Republic of Kazakhstan

 

The light blue background in the flag of Kazakhstan is said to represent the sky god 'Gök-Tanry' and also the various different people that make up the population including Tatars, Mongols and Uyghurs. The golden eagle and blue background was also used by the emperor Genghis Khan in the 13th century.

The current flag was adopted on the 4th of June 1992.
