Republic of South Africa

Although not officially documented to have any meaning or symbolism, the colours of the South African Flag are popularly interpretated in the following way. Red for bloodshed, blue for the sky, green for the land, black for the black people, white for Europeans and yellow for natural resources such as gold.

The National Flag of the Republic of South Africa was adopted in 1994.
