Trunk:-

Solitary, 12-18 inches in diameter and noticeably swollen at the base, grey, texture is smooth and ringed with old leaf scars

Leaf:-

Pinnate, up to 6-7 feet long, bright green and silver underneath

Flowers:-

Purple with cream stalks, formed from below the crownshaft

Fruit:-

Half an inch in diameter, oval and bright red when ripe

Sex:-

Hermaphrodite, self pollinating with one plant

Pests & Diseases:-

Spider mites, Helminthosporium leaf spot in young plants, Phytophora root rot, and aerial blight

Seed Germination:-

Easily and quickly, between 1 to 3 months. Seeds must be fresh, losing viability after a few months
